tiny painting i did over winter break as a study for a bigger painting in the works…process: thinned gesso over illustration board. colored pencil drawing (only dark shadows and lines). thin acrylic washes of basic color scheme. thinned oil wash. dry. pull out highlights with kneaded eraser. then more acrylic, and more colored pencil as you wish. i learned this technique in my illustration methods class and i absolutely adore it. if you haven’t tried it, i highly recommend it, it has a real neat textured look when its all done.
